Job summary

KIDE INTERNATIONAL SDN BHD is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design, site coordination, and project support in our engineering division.

You will review drawings, coordinate with consultants and contractors, supervise installation at site, and ensure compliance with Malaysian standards and project schedules. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing engineering, technical, site coordination, supervision, and project support for electrical works. The position ensures that electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable standards, authority requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.

The Electrical Engineer will coordinate closely with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering & Technical Responsibilities

Review electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.

Review electrical design requirements and provide technical input.

Prepare and review electrical calculations and technical submissions.

Review and prepare shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and technical proposals.

Identify discrepancies, design clashes, and technical issues.

Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, and other disciplines.

Provide technical clarification and support to site teams.

Recommend solutions to electrical engineering and construction issues.

Ensure electrical works comply with approved design, project specifications, Malaysian standards, and relevant statutory requirements.

2. Site Supervision & Coordination

Supervise and monitor electrical installation works at site.

Ensure electrical works are executed according to approved drawings and specifications.

Conduct regular inspections of electrical installations.

Coordinate electrical subcontractors and specialist contractors.

Monitor site progress and workmanship.

Coordinate installation activities and progress with other trades (CSA and MEP) to prevent clashes and delays.

Attend site coordination and technical meetings.

Verify equipment locations, cable routes, containment systems, electrical rooms, panels, and other installations.

Ensure work areas are properly coordinated before installation begins.

3. Electrical Systems

Depending on project scope, coordinate systems including:

Low-voltage and medium-voltage systems.

Transformers.

Switchboards and distribution boards.

Electrical panels.

Cable trays and trunking.

Generator systems.

UPS systems.

Earthing and lightning protection.

ELV systems.

Access control systems.

CCTV systems.

Structured cabling.

Building management system interfaces.

Other electrical systems specified under the project.

4. Quality Control

Ensure electrical installations meet project quality requirements.

Conduct inspections and coordinate inspection requests.

Review inspection and test plans.

Monitor installation quality and workmanship.

Identify defective or non-compliant work.

Ensure proper testing and inspection records are maintained.

Verify electrical materials and equipment comply with approved specifications.

Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical systems.

Monitor insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance, functional, and other required tests.

Coordinate testing of switchboards, transformers, generators, UPS, lighting, power systems, and other equipment.

Witness testing with consultants, clients, authorities, and relevant parties.

Troubleshoot electrical system issues.

Ensure defects identified during commissioning are rectified.

Maintain testing and commissioning documentation.

6. Project Planning & Progress Monitoring

Preparing electrical installation programmes (MS Excel or MS Project).

Monitor progress against project schedules.

Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.

Identify potential delays and technical constraints.

Preparing progress reporting.

Coordinate procurement and delivery of electrical materials and equipment.

Ensure materials are available according to project requirements.

7. Documentation & Handover

Maintain technical and project documentation.

Review and maintain approved drawings and revisions.

Preparation of as-built drawings.

Maintain inspection and testing records.

Preparing operation and maintenance manuals.

Coordinate warranties, certificates, test reports, and handover documents.

Coordinate closing outstanding defects and project punch lists.

8. Safety & Compliance

Ensure electrical works comply with applicable safety requirements.

Promote safe electrical work practices.

Participate in toolbox meetings and risk assessments.

Ensure proper isolation and safe working procedures are followed.

Report unsafe conditions and electrical hazards.

Ensure subcontractors comply with project HSE requirements.

Attend technical, site and coordination meetings as required.

Coordinate and discuss assigned technical and site matters with Clients, Consultants and relevant parties.

Provide timely updates and responses on assigned matters.

Promptly report and elevate key issues to the Construction Manager / Project Manager to avoid delay or misunderstanding.

Ensure timely response and communication (email, letter and etc) with Clients, Consultants, Stakeholder and relevant parties to protect the Company’s interests.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Recognised engineering qualification.

Registration with BEM will be an advantage.

Experience in electrical construction, M&E, building services, industrial, infrastructure, or related projects.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems and installation practices.

Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.

Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of Malaysian electrical standards and regulatory requirements.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Able to work independently and manage site responsibilities.

Willing to work at project sites and travel when required.

Preferred Experience

High-rise, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, data centre, infrastructure, or large-scale construction experience.

Experience coordinating electrical subcontractors.

Experience in testing and commissioning.

Experience dealing with consultants, clients, contractors, suppliers, and authorities.

Knowledge of TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, BOMBA, and other relevant authority requirements will be an advantage.
