KIDE INTERNATIONAL SDN BHD is seeking an Electrical Construction Manager to lead electrical construction activities on large projects in Malaysia. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer/Ir. status or relevant professional registration will be an advantage.

Job Summary

The Electrical Construction Manager is responsible for the overall management, planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of electrical construction activities for the assigned project.

The role provides leadership and direction to Electrical Engineers, supervisors, electricians, subcontractors, and specialist contractors. The Electrical Construction Manager ensures electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, within approved budgets and schedules, and in compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality requirements, contractual obligations, and statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Electrical Construction Management

Take overall responsibility for electrical construction activities on the project.

Plan and manage all electrical installation works.

Ensure electrical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.

Establish work priorities, sequences, and construction strategies.

Monitor site progress and productivity.

Provide leadership and technical direction to the electrical team.

Ensure electrical works are coordinated with all other disciplines.

Identify and resolve construction and technical issues.

2. Project Planning & Scheduling

Develop detailed electrical construction programmes (MS Project).

Establish installation milestones and project targets.

Coordinate electrical activities with the master project programme.

Monitor planned versus actual progress.

Identify critical activities and potential delays.

Develop recovery plans when required.

Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor requirements.

Ensure adequate resources are available to meet project deadlines.

3. Electrical Systems Management

Oversee installation and construction of applicable systems including:

Medium-voltage and low-voltage systems.

Transformers.

Switchboards and distribution boards.

Electrical panels.

Cable trays, trunking, and containment.

Generators.

UPS systems.

Earthing and lightning protection.

ELV systems.

CCTV.

Access control.

Structured cabling.

Building management system interfaces.

Specialist electrical systems.

4. Subcontractor & Specialist Contractor Management

Manage electrical subcontractors and specialist contractors.

Review subcontractor programmes and manpower requirements.

Monitor productivity, workmanship, and progress.

Ensure subcontractors comply with approved drawings and project specifications.

Resolve technical and construction issues.

Monitor subcontractor performance against contractual requirements.

Verify work completion and progress claims in coordination with the commercial team.

5. Technical & Design Coordination

Review electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical submissions.

Coordinate with consultants, designers, and project management teams.

Review shop drawings and material submissions.

Identify design clashes and constructability issues.

Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil services.

Ensure design changes are properly documented and communicated.

Provide technical direction to Electrical Engineers and site supervisors.

Respond to RFIs and technical queries.

6. Quality Management

Ensure electrical installations meet required quality standards.

Implement electrical inspection and quality control procedures.

Review inspection and test plans.

Monitor installation workmanship.

Coordinate inspections with consultants and clients.

Ensure non-conforming works are rectified.

Monitor testing and commissioning activities.

Ensure all quality records are maintained.

Lead the planning and execution of electrical testing and commissioning.

Coordinate testing with consultants, clients, authorities, and specialist contractors.

Ensure electrical systems are tested according to approved procedures.

Oversee testing of switchboards, transformers, generators, UPS, lighting, power systems, earthing, and other electrical equipment.

Coordinate troubleshooting and corrective works.

Monitor commissioning schedules and progress.

Ensure all defects and punch-list items are closed.

Review test reports and commissioning documentation.

8. Authority & Statutory Coordination

Coordinate electrical authority requirements where applicable.

Liaise with relevant authorities, utility providers, consultants, and clients.

Ensure electrical installations meet applicable Malaysian regulatory requirements.

Coordinate inspections and approvals where required.

Ensure required certificates, test reports, and statutory documentation are properly maintained.

9. Cost & Resource Management

Monitor electrical construction costs and resource utilisation.

Assist in controlling manpower, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

Identify potential variations and additional works.

Coordinate with QS/commercial teams on variations and claims.

Monitor material wastage and installation efficiency.

Ensure resources are deployed efficiently.

10. Health, Safety & Environmental Management

Ensure all electrical construction activities comply with project HSE requirements.

Implement safe working procedures for electrical installation.

Ensure proper isolation, lock-out/tag-out, permits, and other safety controls are implemented where applicable.

Participate in risk assessments and method statement reviews.

Conduct site safety inspections.

Ensure subcontractors comply with safety requirements.

Investigate and address safety concerns.

Promote a strong safety culture among electrical teams.

Attend project, technical, progress, coordination, daily, weekly construction meetings.

Represent the electrical construction team during project meetings.

Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and authorities.

Provide regular reports on progress, risks, delays, technical matters, delays, and resource requirements.

Ensure electrical issues requiring management decisions are escalated promptly.

Ensure timely response and communication (email, letter and etc) with Clients, Consultants, Stakeholder and relevant parties to protect the Company’s interests.

12. Handover & Close-Out

Lead electrical project close-out activities.

Ensure all electrical defects and outstanding works are completed.

Coordinate preparation of as-built drawings.

Review testing and commissioning records.

Ensure O&M manuals, warranties, certificates, and relevant documentation are completed.

Coordinate final inspections and client handover.

Ensure project documentation is properly archived.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Professional Engineer/Ir. status or relevant professional registration will be an advantage.

Minimum 8–12 years of relevant electrical construction experience, depending on project requirements.

Strong experience managing electrical construction projects.

Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution and building electrical systems.

Experience managing electrical subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Strong knowledge of testing and commissioning.

Knowledge of Malaysian electrical regulations and authority requirements.

Knowledge of Suruhanjaya Tenaga, TNB, BOMBA, and other relevant requirements will be an advantage.

Strong leadership and project management capabilities.

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Project, AutoCAD and relevant project/construction software.

Able to work under pressure and manage multiple project priorities.

Willing to work at project sites 6 days and travel when required.
