Job summary

SHIMIZU CORPORATION is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor in Malaysia to prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans across project stages. You will monitor costs, administer contracts, evaluate claims, and manage tender processes with suppliers and subcontractors.

The role requires strong Excel and QS software skills, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. You will provide cost advice, manage commercial risks, and contribute to final accounts and project

Qualifications

• Diploma/ Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Construction or Built Environment projects.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, contract administration, and procurement processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and QS-related software.
• Good communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans at various project stages.
• Monitor project costs and cash flow to ensure financial control.
• Administer contracts, including valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Assess and evaluate subcontractor and supplier claims and progress payments.
• Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities, and contractual documentation.
• Manage tender processes, including evaluation and recommendation of awards.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and site teams.
• Provide cost advice and commercial support throughout the project.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Prepare regular cost reports, financial forecasts, and management updates.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, company policies, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare and agree on final accounts with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Support project close-out and handover processes.
