Job summary

GT-Max Engineering Sdn Bhd invites applications for a drafting role focused on architectural and structural drawings. You will use CAD tools to develop plans, elevations, sections, and details and create steel fabrication shop drawings for production and construction teams.

• Must hold at least a Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 3–5 years of related drafting experience.
• Familiar with local building codes and construction standards.
• Proficient in Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
• Strong Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate architectural and structural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details) using CAD software.
• Prepare steel structure fabrication and shop drawings for production and construction.
• Perform material take-offs and weight calculations for planning and procurement.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project teams to interpret concepts as technical drawings.
• Review drawings with production/fabrication teams to ensure accurate execution.
• Ensure drawings comply with specifications, standards, and authority requirements.
• Identify drawing issues and assist in resolving discrepancies.
• Stay updated with drafting standards and steel detailing requirements.
• Assist superior with new designs, revisions, and sample preparation.
• Perform other tasks assigned by superior or Head of Department.

Job description

Produce accurate and detailed architectural and structural drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details using CAD software such as Tekla Structures.

Prepare steel structure fabrication drawings and shop drawings for production and construction.

Perform material weight calculations and prepare material take-off lists for project planning and procurement.

Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and project teams to interpret design concepts and convert them into technical drawings.

Review drawings and coordinate with the production/fabrication team to ensure accurate execution of designs.

Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, technical standards, and relevant authority requirements.

Identify and highlight potential design issues or drawing discrepancies and assist in resolving them.

Stay updated with industry standards, drafting practices, and steel structure detailing requirements.

Assist the immediate superior with new product designs, drawing revisions, and sample preparation.

Perform any other tasks assigned by the superior or Head of Department (HOD) as needed.

Job Requirements:

Must possess at least a Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or any related field.

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in related field.

Familiar with local building codes, regulations, and construction standards.

Proficient in Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or other CAD software.

Strong command of Bahasa Malaysia and English; proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.

Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with the design and project teams.
