Job summary

Randstad Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a skilled BIM Drafter to build accurate 3D BIM models of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and precast elements using Tekla Structures, and to generate fabrication shop drawings and BOMs.

You will collaborate with engineers to translate sketches into constructible CAD drawings, perform clash checks with MEP models, ensure compliance with codes, and manage revisions and RFIs efficiently.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Technical Drafting, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in Tekla Structures for 3D modeling and drawing customization.

Responsibilities

• Build accurate 3D BIM models of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and precast elements.
• Produce fabrication shop drawings, erection plans, GA drawings, and BOMs.
• Translate sketches and calculations into complete, constructible 3D models and CAD drawings.
• Perform internal clash checks and coordinate with architectural and MEP models.
• Ensure drawings comply with national codes and client drafting guidelines.
• Track and document design changes or RFIs promptly.

• 3D Modeling: Build accurate 3D BIM models of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and precast elements using Tekla Structures.

• Drawing Generation: Produce detailed fabrication shop drawings, erection plans, general arrangement (GA) drawings, anchor bolt layouts, and bill of materials (BOM/BBO).

• Engineering Collaboration: Translate structural engineer sketches, calculations, and markups into complete, constructible 3D models and CAD drawings.

• Clash Detection & Quality Control: Perform internal clash checks and spatial coordination with architectural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) models to eliminate site fit-up issues.

• Standard Compliance: Ensure drawings adhere to relevant national structural codes (e.g., AISC, Eurocodes, or local authority standards) and client drafting guidelines.

• Revision Management: Track, implement, and document design modifications or Request for Information (RFI) responses promptly.
