Job summary

Orbit Manufacturing Sdn Bhd in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and modify mechanical designs, prepare 3D models and drawings, and support project implementation from design through to commissioning. You will work with production, project, electrical and service teams to meet customer requirements and project timelines.

Applicants should hold a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing Engineering, with 2–4 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

About the role

Develop mechanical designs and engineering drawings, support project implementation, and ensure designs meet customer requirements, technical specifications, quality standards and project timelines. Work closely with production, project, electrical and service teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and modify mechanical designs, assemblies, components and machine layouts.
• Prepare 3D models, engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Perform design calculations and review technical requirements.
• Improve machine functionality, reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness.
• Support fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Liaise with suppliers to evaluate components, materials and technical solutions.
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate project requirements and site feedback.
• Maintain updated engineering drawings and documentation.
• Identify design risks and recommend practical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality and engineering standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement and other assigned engineering duties.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant experiencein mechanical design, machinery, automation, robotics or a related engineering environment.
• Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency inAutoCAD and Inventor.
• Understanding of mechanical design, engineering drawings, GD&T, materials, fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of motors, bearings, gears, pneumatics, linear guides, conveyors and sensors is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites when required.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Technical:Mechanical and machine design, 3D CAD modelling, engineering drawings, product development, BOM preparation, design calculations, fabrication and manufacturing knowledge, automation, robotics and troubleshooting.
• Soft skills:Problem-solving, analytical thinking, teamwork, communication, time management, attention to detail, adaptability and project coordination.
