Job summary

AIM AUTOMATION SOLUTION SDN. BHD. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to create automation machines and fixtures per customer specs. You will model in 3D, draft 2D drawings, and maintain BOMs across projects.

You will collaborate with electrical, programming, production and purchasing teams to ensure safe, cost-effective, and robust designs; knowledge of pneumatic systems and machine components is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical design, machine design or industrial automation is preferred.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, including 3D modelling and 2D technical drawings.
• Good understanding of mechanical mechanisms, pneumatic systems, jigs & fixtures and machine components.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop customized automation machines, mechanical systems, jigs and fixtures based on customer and project requirements.
• Prepare detailed 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, assembly drawings and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Develop and maintain accurate BOMs and technical documentation for assigned projects.
• Select mechanical, pneumatic and automation components including cylinders, linear guides, motors and sensors.
• Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis and sizing to ensure functionality, reliability and safety.
• Review and improve mechanical designs based on DFM/DFA, cost, assembly requirements, and specs.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Programming, Production, Purchasing and Assembly teams during development and integration.
• Support machine assembly, testing, debugging and troubleshooting; implement design modifications.
• Liaise with suppliers on specs, fabrication requirements and technical issues.
• Support installation, commissioning and customer acceptance activities when required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop customized automation machines, mechanical systems, jigs and fixtures based on customer and project requirements.
• Prepare detailed 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, assembly drawings and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks or other relevant CAD software.

• Select suitable mechanical, pneumatic and automation components, including cylinders, linear guides, motors, actuators, sensors and other machine components.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical design, machine design or industrial automation is preferred.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, including 3D modelling and 2D technical drawings.
• Good understanding of mechanical mechanisms, pneumatic systems, jigs & fixtures and machine components.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, sheet metal, tolerances and material selection.
• Able to prepare and manage BOMs, engineering drawings and design revisions accurately.
• Experience with industrial automation, robotics, conveyors, servo systems or machine vision integration will be an added advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate across different engineering disciplines.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; relevant machine design or automation experience will be an added advantage.
