Job summary

PMX Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Deputy Head/Manager to lead design and engineering for data centre projects. The role involves coordinating design development from concept through construction, reviewing deliverables, and guiding the team to produce compliant, high-quality designs.

The candidate should have 10–15 years in engineering design, with data centre or large-scale infra experience preferred, and be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 10–15 years of engineering design experience, including coordinating or supervising a design team.
• Experience in data centres, large-scale industrial facilities or infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, SolidWorks; knowledge of local and international codes and safety regulations.

Job description

Deputy Head/Manager - Design & Engineering

Managing MEP design delivery across data centre projects. Lead day-to-day coordination and technical reviews, guiding the design team to produce practical, compliant designs that meet project requirements, timelines and budgets.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinate the development of engineering designs, drawings and specifications from concept through construction.

Review design deliverables for technical accuracy, buildability, quality, and compliance with client requirements and applicable codes.

Develop and manage engineering design schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.

Guide engineers, designers and drafters; assign work, monitor progress and help resolve technical issues

Work with project management, procurement, construction teams and external consultants to resolve design interfaces and align designs with site requirements.

Lead or participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering exercises.

Review design changes and technical queries, assess their impact on cost and programme, and recommend solutions for approval.

Ensure that all engineering designs meet local and international codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.

Support the adoption of BIM and other design tools to improve coordination and design quality.

Attend client, contractor and authority meetings as the design team’s representative when assigned.

Mentor team members and support technical knowledge sharing across the department.

Job requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

At least 10 - 15 years of engineering design experience, including experience coordinating or supervising a design team.

Experience in data centres, large-scale industrial facilities or infrastructure projects is highly preferred.

Strong expertise in engineering design principles, construction methodologies, and industry best practices.

Experience managing multidisciplinary deliverables, design schedules and technical stakeholders.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, SolidWorks, and other engineering design software.

Knowledge of local and international engineering codes, safety regulations, and compliance standards.

Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
