Job summary

PMX Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center) to oversee the mechanical system design for data centre construction projects. You will ensure high-quality, energy-efficient solutions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet client requirements.

The role requires hands-on leadership from concept through detailed design, with a focus on maintainability, safety compliance, and sustainability. On-site work will be needed as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design in construction.
• Experience in data centre, MEP, industrial or mission-critical projects is preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and CFD analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC units, and fire suppression systems.
• Excellent coordination, communication, problem solving and leadership skills to manage project teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to work on-site when required.

Involved developing high-quality designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and innovative mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities:

Manage mechanical design activities from concept development through detailed design, ensuring reliable and energy-efficient mechanical systems.

Develop detailed designs for mechanical systems in accordance with project and client requirements.

Review mechanical drawings, equipment selections, specifications, and technical submissions for compliance and accuracy.

Ensure that all designed systems and services meet all technical standards and local authority regulations, safety and performance requirements.

Conduct value engineering assessments to improve system performance and cost efficiency.

Ensure mechanical systems are designed with consideration for maintainability, accessibility, and operational reliability.

Promote energy efficiency and other sustainability matters. Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in MEP engineering to continuously improve system efficiency and sustainability.

Perform system calculations and simulations to ensure system efficiency

Job requirements:

Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design in construction industry, preferably in data centre, MEP, industrial, or mission-critical projects.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC units, and fire suppression systems.

Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and CFD analysis tools.

Strong understanding of engineering standards, design principles, and regulatory requirements.

Excellent coordination, communication, problem solving and leadership skills to manage project teams and stakeholders.

Willingness to work on-site when required.
