BANYANO ASIA SDN BHD is seeking a Data Center Operations & Maintenance Manager to lead day-to-day data center operations, ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with SLAs. You will manage the O&M team, coordinate vendors, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance frameworks while controlling costs.
The role requires strong leadership, cross-cultural communication, and proven experience with large-scale facilities, including capacity planning and incident management.
Lead pre-sales technical discussions for data center operations projects, including technical solution discussions, cost estimation and budgeting, and support the preparation of tender proposals.
Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of data center infrastructure, ensuring stable, safe, and reliable operations.
Lead and manage the operations and maintenance team to ensure compliance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and service commitments to clients.
Oversee daily data center operations and ensure facility safety, security, and operational continuity.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve the data center operations and maintenance framework and processes.
Review and approve data center operation and maintenance work plans.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and relevant safety management plans.
Effectively control and manage the operational and maintenance costs of the data center.
Manage the data center operations team, including team development, performance management, and performance evaluations.
Report, coordinate, and follow up on major incidents and critical operational issues.
Manage and coordinate equipment vendors and service providers, ensuring service quality and contractual requirements are met.
Oversee data center operational scheduling, resource allocation, and manpower deployment.
Review and approve SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), MOP (Method of Procedure), and EOP (Emergency Operating Procedure) documents.
Conduct regular and ad-hoc data center site inspections to ensure compliance with operational standards, procedures, and safety requirements.
Develop maintenance plans, emergency drill plans, and staff training plans to continuously improve service quality and safety capabilities.
Maintain regular communication with clients and prepare and present service reports, operational updates, and performance reviews.
Minimum 5 years of data center operations and maintenance experience, preferably with experience in Southeast Asia. Familiarity with local culture and working environments is preferred. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in Mandarin, Malay and English as the role requires regular communication and coordination with clients, teams, and stakeholders from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/HVAC Engineering, Automation, or other related disciplines.
At least 5 years of relevant data center operations experience, including experience managing data centers with 3,000+ racks, and at least 3 years of experience managing teams of 30+ personnel. Experience in manpower development and safety management is required.
Strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills, with strong awareness of cost control and operational risk management.
Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in the operation and maintenance of critical data center infrastructure systems, including:
Medium/Low Voltage (MV/LV) systems
UPS
HVDC
Precision Air Conditioning / CRAH / CRAC
Water Supply & Drainage Systems
Strong understanding of data center operations and maintenance frameworks, including:

Proven ability to effectively lead and manage data center operations teams, drive daily operations, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience in capacity management, energy efficiency optimization, and PUE improvement, with the ability to identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, clients, vendors, contractors, and other external stakeholders.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical proposals, operational plans, reports, service reports, and other documentation according to company standards and client requirements.
Experience working in Southeast Asian data center environments.
Experience with large-scale / hyperscale data centers.
Experience managing multinational or multicultural teams.
Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience.
Professional certifications related to data center operations, facilities management, electrical/mechanical engineering, or safety would be an advantage.
