Job summary

Open DC is seeking a seasoned Facilities Operations Supervisor in Johor Bahru to take overall responsibility for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of data center facilities.

You will lead the operations team, manage SLAs, drive continuous improvement in data center performance and energy utilization (PUE), coordinate with internal stakeholders and service providers, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in data center or critical facility operations.
• Supervisory/management experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of data center critical systems and safety standards.
• Proficient in English and Mandarin for daily communication.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of critical data center facilities and infrastructure.
• Lead and supervise the facilities operations team to ensure targets, SLAs, and project requirements are met.
• Drive continuous improvement in data center performance, operational efficiency, and energy utilization (PUE).
• Manage daily team activities including workforce planning, shift scheduling, risk assessment, incident handling, and staff performance.
• Establish and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and training materials to standardize data center activities.
• Plan preventive maintenance, technical training, emergency programs, and drills.
• Evaluate facility changes, maintenance, incidents, and emergency actions with proper risk controls.
• Ensure operations comply with company policies, safety practices, standards, and regulations.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, and service providers to maintain service continuity.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of critical data center facilities and infrastructure.
• Lead and supervise the facilities operations team to ensure operational targets, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and project requirements are consistently achieved.
• Drive continuous improvement in data center performance, operational efficiency, and energy utilization, including initiatives to improve Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
• Manage daily team activities, including workforce planning, task allocation, shift scheduling, operational risk assessment, incident handling, and staff performance management.
• Establish, review, and maintain comprehensive SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and operational training materials to ensure consistent and standardized execution of data center activities.
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance activities, technical training, emergency preparedness programs, and emergency response drills to maintain a high level of operational readiness.
• Evaluate and authorize facility-related changes, maintenance activities, incident reports, and emergency actions, ensuring appropriate risk controls and timely issue resolution.
• Ensure all facility operations and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, safety practices, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, and service providers to coordinate operational activities, resolve issues, and maintain service continuity.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data center or critical facility operations, with previous experience in a supervisory or management capacity being an added advantage.
• Good understanding of data center critical systems, including electrical distribution, UPS, standby generators, cooling/HVAC systems, and associated facility infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operational risks, respond to incidents, and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in English and Mandarin for day-to-day communication and coordination with stakeholders.
