Job summary

Xircle Talent is assisting a global professional services firm to appoint a Critical Facilities Manager for a data centre. The role oversees on-site operational, team, and vendor management with responsibility for site facility management, finance, HSE, and procurement, ensuring preventive/reactive maintenance, compliance, and effective management of plant, mechanical, and electrical systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Operational Engineering, 6–8 years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Operational Engineering.
• 6–8 years of relevant engineering or critical environment space experience.
• 2–3 years' experience operating electrical and mechanical services in a Tier III or equivalent data center/critical facility.
• Hands-on experience with M&E and building-related systems (e.g., CRAU, chillers, PDU, UPS, Switch Gears Ops, DX cooling, network cabling).
• Experience in data center/critical facility operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct multi-skilled Engineering Operations teams, including staff and vendors.
• Ensure adherence to client and company policies by staff and vendors within facilities.
• Serve as escalation point for critical failures and assist with safety, analysis, rectification, and reporting.
• Implement maintenance programs, procedures, and helpdesk management.
• Oversee hard and soft services operations and ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
• Monitor subcontractor maintenance, quality, and contractual compliance.
• Coordinate meetings with contractors and suppliers to address underperformance and corrective actions.
• Ensure maintenance documentation meets asset management standards.
• Assist with statutory compliance requirements and certifications for the site.

Critical Facilities Manager (Data Centre)

Our client is a global professional services firm specializing in real estate and investment management.

Job Summary

This role leads on-site operational, team, and vendor management, with overall responsibility for site facility management (O&M), finance, HSE, and procurement. The primary purpose is to ensure excellence in preventative and reactive maintenance programs, statutory compliance, and the effective management of all plant, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct multi-skilled Engineering Operations teams, including directly employed staff and vendors.
• Ensure strict adherence to client and company policies and procedures by all staff and vendors within facilities.
• Serve as an escalation point for critical failures, assisting the technical team with safety, identification, analysis, rectification, and improvement reporting.
• Implement operational standards, procedures, preventive/planned maintenance programs, repair/replacement initiatives, and helpdesk management.
• Manage both hard and soft service operations, ensuring implementation of agreed procedures and standards.
• Oversee all site repair and maintenance by subcontractors to ensure work completion, quality, and compliance with specifications and ordinances.
• Monitor, measure, and report on specialist contractor performance against agreed contractual budgets.
• Coordinate periodic meetings with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to maintain standards and develop corrective action plans for underperformance.
• Ensure maintenance documentation meets required standards for effective asset management.
• Assist the client with statutory compliance requirements and certifications for the site.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Operational Engineering.
• 6-8 years of relevant experience in engineering or critical environment space.
• 2-3 years' experience in operating electrical and mechanical services in a Tier III or equivalent data center/critical facility.
• Competent and experienced in data center and/or critical environment maintenance and operations.
• Hands-on experience and knowledge in M&E and building-related systems (e.g., CRAU, chillers, PDU, UPS, Switch Gears Ops, DX cooling, network structured cabling, security).
• Competent in undertaking Job Hazards Analysis (JHA).
• Excellent people skills and ability to interact with diverse client and vendor staff.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing or business justification.
• Sound computer skills in Windows-based operating systems; AutoCAD skills are an advantage.
• 5-8 years of experience managing people and operations/technical aspects, preferably in a Data Center environment.
• Recent hands-on experience is preferred.
