Job summary

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) Engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience to manage enterprise relational databases. You will ensure high availability, security, integrity, and performance across MS SQL Server, MySQL, and IBM DB2.

Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning, with emphasis on security and RBAC.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Computer Science / IT.
• At least 2 years of related working experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with more than one database platform (e.g., SQL, MSSQL, DB2, MariaDB).
• Solid understanding of system/platform administration.
• Experience with middleware clustering technologies.
• Proven expertise in performance tuning and issue resolution.
• Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and DR processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Good communication skills in English and Malay language for both spoken and written.
• Good technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze SQL queries, execution plans, and deadlocks with engineers to refactor inefficient code.
• Design and optimize indexes and partitioning strategies for high data throughput.
• Plan capacity and resource allocation for growth and workload scaling.
• Administer high-availability and disaster-recovery topologies (AlwaysOn, Replication, HADR).
• Enforce database security controls and RBAC following least-privilege principles.
• Serve as escalation point for performance degradation, outages, or data corruption.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) Engineer with at least 2 years of hands‑on experience managing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise relational database environments. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, security, integrity, and performance of our multi-database ecosystem, specifically Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and IBM DB2.

Key responsibilities

Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database instances across MS SQL Server, MySQL, and IBM DB2 environments.

Perform routine database maintenance tasks including index defragmentation, statistic updates, database consistency checks (DBCC), and log truncation.

Monitor database health, uptime, disk usage, memory utilization, and throughput to ensure service level agreement (SLA) compliance.

Implement, maintain, and test database backup, recovery, and point‑in‑time restore procedures.

Analyze complex SQL queries, execution plans, and deadlocks; partner with software engineers to refactor inefficient code.

Design and optimize indexes (clustered, non‑clustered, spatial/composite) and partitioning strategies to maintain high data throughput.

Perform database capacity planning and resource allocation to accommodate growth and workload scaling.

Administer high‑availability and disaster‑recovery topologies (e.g., MS SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups / Clustering, MySQL Replication / InnoDB Cluster, DB2 HADR).

Enforce database security controls, database user access permissions, and role‑based access control (RBAC) following least‑privilege principles.

Serve as an escalation point for database performance degradation, outages, or data corruption issues.

About you

Minimum of Diploma / Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology

At least 2 years of related working experience

Strong hands‑on experience with more than one database platform (e.g., SQL, MSSQL, DB2, MariaDB)

Solid understanding of system/platform administration

Experience with middleware clustering technologies

Proven expertise in performance tuning and issue resolution

Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and DR processes
