Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; customs/freight training preferred.
• Experience as Declaration Clerk or similar role in freight forwarding.
• Knowledge of customs procedures, import/export regulations, and Malaysian requirements.
• Proficient in customs declaration systems and standard forwarding software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process customs declarations for import and export shipments.
• Review and verify shipping documents (bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
• Ensure documentation complies with customs regulations and forwarding requirements.
• Liaise with customs authorities to obtain necessary clearances.
• Maintain records of declarations and shipment docs per procedures.
• Input and manage shipment data into forwarding/tracking systems.
• Monitor declaration timelines to ensure timely clearance.
• Identify and report compliance issues to management.
• Support declaration process for general freight, hazmat, and specialised goods.
• Communicate with clients, agents, and internal teams about documentation.
