Job summary

Season Group in Malaysia seeks a seasoned Customs Operations & Compliance lead at the Penang facility to manage import/export clearance, document control, and HS code accuracy. This role collaborates with internal teams and authorities to ensure compliant and cost-efficient operations.

You will coordinate MITI COO processes, monitor exemption schemes, and oversee licenses for LMW/FTZ while keeping records auditable and up-to-date.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related field.
• Min 3 years in customs/trade compliance.
• Fluent in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process customs docs: invoices, packing lists, COO, etc.

Job description

Responsible for managing and overseeing all customs and trade compliance activities at the Penang manufacturing facility.

Ensures all import, export, and customs clearance operations are conducted in full compliance with Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) regulations, while optimizing duty costs and maintaining accurate documentation.

Primary point of contact for customs authorities and internal stakeholders on all customs-related matters.

Responsibilities

Customs Operations & Compliance

Manage and oversee all import (A1 & A2) and export customs clearance activities for raw materials, finished goods, machinery, equipment, and spare parts.

Prepare, review, and process all required customs documentation, including K1/K2 forms, permits, declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.

Ensure accurate HS code classification for all products and materials, and identify opportunities for duty optimization and sales tax exemptions.

Monitor and apply duty exemption programs, sales tax exemption/drawback schemes, and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) benefits (e.g., RCEP, ASEAN) to reduce duty costs.

Maintain and renew all factory and business licenses, trade registrations, and customs-related permits. v

Oversee customs compliance for Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) and Free Trade Zone (FTZ), including stock movement control, customs reporting, licence renewal, and audit readiness.

Prepare, update, and submit monthly and annual customs reports in accordance with customs regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate customs records and ensure timely reporting for compliance, audit, and management review.

MITI & Certificate of Origin (COO) Management

Manage MITI applications for new product registration and approval.

Prepare detailed cost analysis and supporting documentation for Certificate of Origin (COO) applications.

Process and submit (COO) applications and ensuring compliance with applicable Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

Coordinate with internal departments and relevant authorities to ensure timely approval and issuance of COO documentation.

Maintain accurate records of COO applications, approvals, and supporting documents for audit and compliance purposes.

Stay updated on changes to Malaysian customs regulations, tariffs, and trade policies, and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.

Provide expert advice to internal teams on correct customs treatment, HS code application, and sales tax implications.

Participate in business reviews with service providers and drive corrective actions as warranted.

Plant Authority Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

Manage the renewal and maintenance of all plant and regulatory licenses to ensure continuous operational, including:

• Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) Licence
• Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Licence
• Certificate of Origin (COO) / Certificate of Origin (CO) Registration v. Local Authority & Business Registrations (MPSP / SSM)

Requirements

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Logistics & Warehouse, or any related field

Working Experience: Minimum 3 years and above in related field Local Customs License/Certification (KEK) is an advantage.

Hands-on experience in managing regulatory submissions, permit applications, and statutory license renewals.

Fluent in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia will be an adavantage
