Job summary

DHL Express is seeking a Customs Clearance Leader in Malaysia to oversee a dedicated team responsible for accurate customs declarations and timely lodgment. You will drive pre-clearance optimization and ensure high service standards in a global logistics environment.

Ideal candidates hold a diploma or equivalent, an IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Certification, and 2–3 years of operations experience in transport or logistics.

Qualifications

• Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Line Trainer certification.
• 2-3 years operations experience in transportation or logistics.

Responsibilities

• Portray a professional, courteous and helpful attitude in dealings with customers.
• Prepare declarations and lodge them with the authorities.
• Maximize pre-clearance/pre-release levels for shipments.
• Maintain professional image of gateway operations agents.
• Manage a Customs Clearance team to prepare declarations accurately and lodge them timely.
• Review team output with a risk management approach.
• Support inbound/outbound clearance to meet performance targets and transit times.
• Develop a high performance service culture within the department.
• Conduct performance appraisals for team members.
• Allocate resources to achieve global, regional and country objectives.

Your Tasks

• Portray a professional, courteous and helpful attitude in all dealings with internal and external customers.
• Prepare declarations as required and take responsibility for the lodgment of declarations with the authorities.
• Ensure that the levels of pre-clearance/pre-release of shipments is maximized.
• Ensure that gateway operations agents maintain a professional image to both internal and external contacts.
• Manage the work of a Customs Clearance team to ensure accurate preparation of Customs declarations and the timely lodgment of those declarations.
• Review the work of the team incorporating a risk management approach.
• Contribute to team effort to ensure the attainment of both inbound and outbound shipment clearance, efficiently within clearance performance targets and transit time.
• Develop a high performance service culture within the functional department. Plan, organize and direct and efficient and effective functional department.
• Consult performance appraisal.
• Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets.

Your Profile

• Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness and empathy.
• Well- developed relationship skill and ability to network with multiple levels of an organization and other business units.
• Diploma (or equivalent).
• Line Trainer certified.
• 2-3 years operations experience, preferably within transportation or logistics industry.
• IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Certification.
