Job summary

Laser Industries Sdn Bhd is seeking a Costing Engineer to prepare cost calculations for customer RFQs and review technical specs. You will coordinate RFQ costing with Sales, Engineering and Purchasing to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.

The role involves communicating with customers to understand manufacturing needs and clarify documentation in kickoff meetings. The ideal candidate has a Mechanical Engineering degree, with advantageous experience in sheet metal/fabrication, and strong

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in metal fabrication is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of material properties and design guidelines for mechanical commodities.

Job description

Prepare a costing calculation (customer RFQ) within the time frame.

Understand product drawings and carefully review all technical specifications.

Coordinate and review RFQ costing to ensure pricing are competitive and profitable.

Communicate with customers to understand their manufacturing needs and fulfill those customer requirements.

Understand and clarify customer documentation and requirement to internal in kick-off meeting.

Seek cost saving opportunity internally and externally.

Quotation documentation filing for record purpose.

To perform other duties or tasks as assigned

Customer Relationship

Work closely with Sales, Engineering & Purchasing to meet customer schedule and requirement.

Handle customer complaints and work closely with Sales team to ensure customer satisfaction

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess a recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent academic experience.

Having experience in sheet metal/fabrication is an added advantage.

Have basic knowledge in material properties & design guidelines of mechanical commodity such as plastic & sheet metal.

Understand manufacturing operation & assembly processes.

Strong in leadership & project management skills.

Able to collaborate and work well with other functional team for business success.

Possess strong analytical / logic and problem solving skill.
