Job summary

Zafas Sdn Bhd, based in Kajang, Selangor, seeks an experienced Contract Manager for end-to-end contract oversight on underground cables, transmission lines, substations and infrastructure projects. The role connects clients, internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure on-schedule, on-budget project delivery.

Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating terms, maintaining records, monitoring performance, and managing risks and disputes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract management within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, including standard forms such as FIDIC, PWD, IEM and CIDB contracts commonly used in Malaysia.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple contracts simultaneously, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.
  • Proficiency in contract administration software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
  • Professional qualification such as CIPM (Certified in Project Management) or equivalent experience in project controls.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian construction industry practices, regulations and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contract terms and conditions to protect the company's interests and ensure clarity for all parties involved.
  • Managing contract documentation and maintaining accurate records of all contractual amendments, variations and correspondence.
  • Monitoring contract performance and ensuring compliance with agreed specifications, timelines and quality standards.
  • Identifying and mitigating contractual risks and resolving disputes or claims in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Tracking project budgets and expenditures against contracted values, reporting on financial performance and managing change orders.
  • Preparing detailed contract reports and progress updates for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, standards and company policies throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Supporting the tender process by providing commercial and contractual expertise and recommendations.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager (preferably with working experiences in underground cables, transmission lines, substations and infrastructure projects) to join Zafas Sdn Bhd in a full-time capacity, based in our Kajang, Selangor office. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing construction contracts from inception through to completion. You will serve as a critical link between our clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met, projects remain on schedule and within budget, and disputes are minimised. This position is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and delivering successful construction projects.
