Job summary

Yu Tong Construction Sdn Bhd is seeking a Construction Site Engineer to join our project management team on a full-time basis in Penang. You will oversee daily site operations, ensure quality, safety compliance, and coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, with 2–3 years of site experience, a solid grasp of drawings and specifications, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 2–3 years in construction site engineer or similar role on building/civil projects.
• Solid knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and local codes in Malaysia.
• Strong ability to read drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• CIDB competency card or related qualification preferred.

• Oversee daily site operations to ensure conformance with project specs and drawings.
• Conduct regular site inspections and maintain progress records.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to align work schedules and resolve issues.

About the role Yu Tong Construction Sdn Bhd is seeking a Construction Site Engineer to join our dynamic project management team on a full-time basis in Penang. This is a strategic position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of our construction projects from inception to completion. As a Construction Site Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing daily site operations, maintaining quality standards, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating between various stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role is essential to our commitment to delivering excellence in construction project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise daily construction activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, drawings, and technical requirements
• Conduct regular site inspections and maintain comprehensive records of work progress, materials, and labour allocation
• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate work schedules and resolve site-related issues
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site
• Prepare and submit daily reports, progress updates, and documentation to project management
• Manage quality control procedures and conduct inspections to maintain construction standards
• Assist in cost control by monitoring material usage, labour productivity, and project expenditure
• Support the resolution of technical issues and provide recommendations for improvements
• Communicate effectively with site teams, management, and clients regarding project status and concerns

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Construction Site Engineer or similar role on building and civil engineering projects
• Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and building codes applicable in Malaysia
• Strong understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
• Proficiency in using construction management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Competency in health and safety management on construction sites
• Valid driving licence and willingness to work on-site
• Professional certification such as CIDB competency card or relevant trade qualifications (preferred)
