Job summary

Dmk Hospitality Sdn Bhd is seeking a hardworking Commis Chef for Saudagar Heritage Indian Kitchen in Kuala Lumpur to support Indian dish prep with attention to taste, cleanliness, consistency and halal standards.

Join a halal-certified Indian restaurant and contribute to curry, tandoor, breads, rice service. You will work under experienced chefs, follow recipes, ensure stock and hygiene, and help maintain high food-safety practices.

Qualifications

• Basic experience or training in an Indian kitchen.
• Familiarity with Indian spices, ingredients and cooking methods is an advantage.
• Willing to learn and follow instructions from senior chefs.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Responsible, punctual and committed to cleanliness.
• Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• A valid food-handler certificate and typhoid vaccination are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with daily food preparation and cooking
• Prepare ingredients, sauces, marinades, vegetables and basic dishes
• Follow standard recipes, portion sizes and presentation guidelines
• Support the preparation of Indian curries, tandoor items, breads, rice and side dishes
• Ensure ingredients and workstations are clean, organised and properly stocked
• Maintain hygiene, food-safety and halal-handling standards
• Check the freshness and quality of ingredients
• Assist with receiving, storing and rotating kitchen supplies
• Minimise food wastage and use ingredients responsibly
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods
• Perform cleaning and closing duties as required
