This full-time role offers a hands-on environment in a fast-paced hospitality and catering setting, reporting to senior kitchen staff and contributing to daily meal preparation. You will work under supervision to prepare ingredients, assist in cooking, maintain high hygiene, and help plate dishes while ensuring consistency with recipes.

Qualifications

• Completed culinary training or relevant qualification in food preparation and cooking.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards and willingness to adhere to best practices.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions from senior kitchen staff.
• Physical stamina and capability to stand for extended periods and work in a warm kitchen environment.
• Reliable, punctual and professional attitude with a commitment to continuous learning.
• Experience with kitchen equipment operation is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Malaysian and international cuisines would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning of vegetables, proteins and other food items.
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and culinary standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness and organisation of assigned work stations.
• Support senior chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation tasks and follow all given instructions accurately.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
• Assist in plating and presentation of dishes to meet quality and aesthetic standards.
• Maintain inventory awareness and communicate any shortages or issues to kitchen management.
• Contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of the kitchen during service periods.
