Job summary

ACCORD INNOVATIONS SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Developer to support enterprise banking applications. You will work on IBM Mainframe systems, with strong COBOL, JCL, and VSAM skills, and contribute to production support and releases.

The role requires 5+ years in mainframe development, a relevant degree, and banking/domain cards experience is preferred. IDMS exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on Mainframe Development experience.
• Strong COBOL and JCL skills with production support experience.
• Experience with VSAM is required; IDMS is a plus.
• Banking/Cards domain experience preferred.

• Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot JCL for batch processing.
• Support batch processing and online transaction applications.
• Maintain and optimize VSAM and IDMS based applications.
• Analyze and resolve production issues within timelines.
• Participate in SIT, UAT, deployment and production releases.
• Provide ongoing production support and troubleshoot incidents.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Developer to join the team supporting and enhancing enterprise applications within the banking environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and IBM Mainframe/z/OS environments, along with proven experience in application development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and production support. Candidates with banking domain experience, particularly Cards experience, will be strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities

Develop, maintain, enhance, and support COBOL-based applications on IBM Mainframe systems.

Analyze Business Requirements Documents (BRD) and Functional Specification Documents (FSD) and translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Perform application coding, unit testing, debugging, and technical documentation.

Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot JCL for batch processing and job execution.

Support batch processing and online transaction applications.

Maintain and optimize applications using VSAM and IDMS.

Analyze and resolve application and production issues within agreed timelines.

Perform root-cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective and preventive solutions.

Participate in SIT, UAT, deployment, and production release activities.

Provide ongoing production support and troubleshoot critical application incidents.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5+ years of relevant hands-on Mainframe Development experience.

Strong practical experience with COBOL and JCL.

Experience with VSAM is required.

Application debugging and troubleshooting.

IDMS and production support experience will be an added advantage.

Experience working with legacy mainframe systems.

Banking / Cards Domain Experience preferred.
