Job summary

Hong Kong Unison Limited is seeking an experienced COBOL developer to maintain and enhance COBOL-based applications on the AS400/IBM i platform. You will collaborate with business users and technical teams to deliver reliable solutions, manage deployments with ALDON, and handle DB2/SQL activities, while adhering to DevOps and SDLC practices.

The ideal candidate has 6–12 years of AS400 COBOL experience, and banking/payments domain exposure is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• 6–12 years of AS400 COBOL development experience.
• Banking and Payments domain experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support COBOL-based applications on the AS400 / IBM i platform.
• Participate in application enhancements, bug fixes, and production support activities.
• Manage code promotion and deployment activities using ALDON.
• Work closely with business users, analysts, and technical teams to deliver solutions.
• Perform database-related activities involving DB2 and SQL.
• Support integration activities across enterprise systems and applications.
• Track and manage development tasks, defects, and releases through JIRA.
• Follow DevOps and SDLC best practices to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of production incidents.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security policies, and governance requirements.

Job description

• • Strong hands-on experience in COBOL development on AS400 / IBM i platform


• • Experience working with EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) environments


• • Knowledge of DevOps practices and release management processes


• • Hands-on experience with ALDON for application lifecycle management and software deployment


• • Good understanding of SQL and DB2 databases, including query writing and performance optimization


• • Experience in application support, maintenance, enhancement, and troubleshooting activities


• • Familiarity with JIRA for incident, change, and project tracking


• • Exposure to banking, payments, or financial services applications is highly preferred


• • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions


• • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
