Job summary

Broadcom is seeking a senior engineer to lead backend Indium Phosphide wafer processing initiatives in Penang, Malaysia. You will oversee ramp-up of new facilities, qualification of CM partners and processes, and seamless transfer of products from NPI to high-volume manufacturing, acting as the technical defense for on-floor issues.

You will drive yield improvements, guide remote and cross-functional teams, and manage cost reduction opportunities while leveraging JMP for complex data analysis

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on engineering and leadership in backend Indium Phosphide wafer processing or complex semiconductor/photonics manufacturing.
• Experience with Bar Processing steps (Bar Stacker/unstack, Scribe & Break, AOI, Pick & Place) is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead remote teams and cross-functional initiatives.
• Expertise in product and process yield improvement and complex problem solving.
• Highly proficient in JMP for statistical data analysis and decisive decision-making.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• New Facilities & Production Ramp-Up: Lead the team to ramp-up new facilities within strict timelines.
• New Equipment, Process & CM Qualification: Lead cross-functional team in evaluation and onboarding of CM partners, equipment, and processes.
• New Product Transfer & Technical Ownership: Drive NPI to HVM transitions and act as technical defender for product issues.
• Yield Stabilization & Enhancement: Monitor yields and drive improvements at CMs.
• Line Sustaining: Resolve daily CM engineering, production, and quality issues with corrective actions.
• Product Costing Management: Oversee cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Data-Driven Engineering Analysis: Monitor CM metrics and troubleshoot manufacturing deviations (e.g., JMP).
• Customer Quality Assurance: Conduct on-site audits and drive root-cause investigations with CMs.
