Job summary

Spectrum Laboratories (Penang) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to supervise and manage laboratory operations, conduct analytical testing, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Key responsibilities include supervising daily analysis tasks, performing wet chemistry and instrumental analyses (UV-VIS, GC-MS, Colorimetry, Gravimetry, Titrimetry), and maintaining calibration and documentation; fresh graduates with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related science and good English/Bahasa

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory practices, chemical analysis, and safety.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Willing to learn and work independently or in a team.
• Good communication and report-writing in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Positive attitude and eager to develop in the laboratory or chemical industry.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assign daily analysis jobs to laboratory assistants and field technicians
• Carry out wet chemistry and instrumental analysis such as UV-VIS Spectrophotometry, GC MS, Colorimetry, Gravimetry, Titrimetry and related methods
• Conduct daily and period internal calibration for various instruments
• Involvement in analysis calculations, verification and preparation of test reports
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with MS ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
• Develop new test methods, validate analytical performance (accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD/LOQ) and establish measurement uncertainty models for laboratory analysis
