Job summary

Tacam Steel Pte Ltd is seeking a Chargeman to oversee the safe operation, maintenance, inspection and repair of electrical systems and equipment at our facility in Malaysia.

The role ensures compliance with safety regulations, coordinates with contractors and maintenance teams, and supports reliable facility operations by minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities

• Advise on proper and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical services.
• Liaise with utilities providers such as TNB, DOSH and regulatory bodies on compliance.
• Plan and perform preventive and reactive maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns and power failures.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore power safely.
• Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
• Coordinate shutdowns and electrical testing when required.
• Enforce safe work practices and permit-to-work procedures.
• Accept any other ad-hoc duties assignments from superior when needed.

Job description

The Chargeman is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. The role ensures that all electrical installations comply with applicable safety regulations and standards while minimizing equipment downtime and supporting efficient facility operations. Chargemen often supervise electrical work and coordinate with contractors and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

Responsible to advice for the proper and efficient operations and maintenance of electrical, mechanical services of the facility;

Liaise with utilities providers such as TNB, DOSH and other regulatory bodies on utility services and compliance issues;

Plan and perform preventive maintenance & reactive/corrective maintenance work to prevent or minimize equipment breakdown and power failures;

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance during power failures or equipment breakdown;

Ensure all statutory regulations are complied with as part of their duties;

Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore power safely and efficiently;

Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations;

Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment logs;

Coordinate shutdowns and electrical testing when required;

Promote workplace safety by enforcing safe work practices and permit-to-work procedures;

Accept any other ad-hoc duties assignments from superior when needed.
