Job summary

ELSA is seeking an Electrical Chargeman in Johor to oversee safe operation, maintenance, and supervision of electrical installations in plants and facilities. You will manage preventive and breakdown maintenance, perform troubleshooting, and ensure continuous operation while monitoring performance and keeping records.

The role requires at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity, a valid Chargeman CoC, and strong safety and coordination skills to work with engineers, operators, and maintenance

Qualifications

• Diploma in science/engineering/technology OR Certificate from INSTEP.
• Possess minimum 5 years of experience in supervisory role.
• Hold a valid Chargeman B0 Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST).
• Be registered as a competent person under the Electricity Regulations 1994.
• Operate and control electrical installations safely as per COC competency.
• Understand equipment such as HV switchgear, MCCB, ACB, motors.
• Perform: Isolation / switching, Troubleshooting, Preventive maintenance.
• Apply electrical safety practices and first aid.
• Problem solving and analytical thinking.
• Good communication (work with engineers, operators).
• Teamwork and site coordination.
• Safety awareness (very critical in oil & gas).
• Familiar with Tools Box Session.
• Efficient in report writing & computer.

• Beyond technical duties, the Electrical Chargeman plays a key role in safety and compliance, ensuring that all electrical work adheres to statutory regulations and industry standards. Supervise contractors and technicians, issue or control Permit to Work (PTW) and Electrical Isolation Certificate (EIC) where applicable and enforce safe work practices on site. The chargeman is also responsible for identifying hazards, implementing corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives for electrical systems. Strong communication, coordination, and problem - solving skills are essential, as the position often requires collaboration with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams while maintaining overall accountability for electrical safety within the installation.
