Job summary

ECONSAVE CASH & CARRY (PD) SDN BHD is seeking a Category Executive/Management Trainee (Purchasing) to liaise with suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and monitor performance. You will build supplier relationships and source new suppliers to support multiple product categories in a fast-paced retail setting.

You will also handle category management tasks, analyze sales data, manage stock levels, plan promotions, and ensure timely stock arrivals and accurate invoicing.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/Degree in any field or any relevant working experience.
• Familiar with Microsoft Excel and willing to continuously improve skills.
• Fresh graduates are welcome; internship or part-time experience in retail, merchandising, procurement, or FMCG is an advantage.
• Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with suppliers and carry out negotiation; negotiate pricing, payment terms, promotions, and delivery schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply issues; build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
• Source for new suppliers from time to time.
• Understand consumer needs and market research; analyze sales reports and purchasing data.
• Manage assigned product categories (e.g., fresh/grocery/non-food); plan promotions and seasonal products.
• Resolve discrepancies related to product codes, pricing, quantities, or deliveries; review category sales and profitability; continuously evaluate and improve assigned product categories.
• Process purchase orders, coordinate payment arrangements, verify invoices; ensure all pricing submissions are processed accurately and within timelines.
• Ensure timely stock arrival; monitor and manage stock allocations to outlets and interpret sales forecast; ensure optimal stock levels to avoid overstocking or shortages.
• Perform any other ad hoc tasks assigned by management.

Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/Degree in any field or any relevant working experience.

Applicants must be willing to work in Pandamaran, Port Klang. (Please note that the work location has limited public transportation access.)

Preferably 1 to 2 years working experience at similar position.

Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply. Internship or part-time experience in retail, merchandising, procurement, or FMCG is an advantage.

5 working days, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm, Fixed hour & on site
