Job summary

RC Precision Engineering Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking an experienced CAM Programmer to join our manufacturing team. You will develop, optimize, and support CNC programs using Mastercam for high-precision components.

The role requires 5–8 years in CAM/CNC programming, 3-axis and 5-axis experience, and the ability to read drawings, GD&T and CAD models. You will collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to improve cycle times and part quality.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Precision Engineering or related field.
• 5-8 years of CAM/CNC programming experience.
• Strong hands-on Mastercam experience.
• Experience with 3-axis CNC programming; 5-axis is a plus.
• Ability to interpret drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam from drawings and CAD models.
• Program 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining for precision parts.
• Create efficient toolpaths: roughing, finishing, drilling, etc.
• Select tools, tooling strategies, feeds, speeds, and parameters.
• Perform CAM simulation, verification, and collision checking.
• Support CNC setup, first-off production, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with CNC machinists, engineers, production, and quality teams.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced CAM Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting CNC machining programs using Mastercam for high-precision and complex components.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam based on engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.

Program 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining operations for complex and precision components.

Create efficient toolpaths, including roughing, finishing, drilling, and other machining operations.

Select suitable cutting tools, tooling strategies, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters based on material and part geometry.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.

Perform CAM simulation, toolpath verification, and collision checking before production.

Support CNC setup, first-off machining, and production troubleshooting.

Optimize programs to improve cycle time, tool life, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.

Troubleshoot machining problems related to tooling, material, programming, workholding, and machine processes.

Work closely with CNC machinists, engineers, production, and quality teams to resolve machining and quality issues.

Maintain and control CAM/CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling information, and program revisions.

Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization activities.

Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for machining and quality issues.

Provide technical support to CNC operators and machinists when required.

Requirements

Diploma / Advanced Diploma / Higher Diploma / Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field.

5-8 years of relevant experience in CAM programming, CNC programming, precision machining, or manufacturing.

Strong hands-on experience with Mastercam.

Experience with 3-axis CNC programming is required.

5-axis CNC programming experience will be an added advantage.

Good knowledge of CNC machining, cutting tools, feeds & speeds, tooling, and machining strategies.

Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Able to work effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams.

Good communication and technical documentation skills.
