Frencken Mechatronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a skilled 5-axis CNC Machinist to operate and set up advanced CNC centers for high-precision components. You will perform setup, tool changes, program verification, and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet stringent specifications.
Responsibilities include reading engineering drawings, GD&T, selecting tools, adjusting offsets, and maintaining production records while adhering to safety and quality procedures.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented 5-Axis CNC Machinist to operate and set up advanced CNC machining centers for the production of high-precision components. The successful candidate will be responsible for machine setup, tool selection, machining operations, dimensional inspection, and ensuring that finished parts meet specified quality and production requirements.
Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining centers according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and machining programs.
Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, machining specifications, and work instructions.
Load, edit, and verify CNC programs and make necessary offset and tooling adjustments.
Perform machine setup, including workholding, tool installation, tool setting, work coordinate setting, and fixture alignment.
Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies based on material and component requirements.
Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently to achieve required production quantities and cycle times.
Conduct first-piece inspection and in-process inspection using appropriate measuring equipment.
Measure components using verniers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
Identify and correct machining issues such as dimensional variation, tool wear, chatter, surface-finish problems, and tool breakage.
Make appropriate tool wear and dimensional offsets to maintain part quality.
Monitor machine performance, tooling condition, coolant levels, and overall machining processes.
Carry out basic machine troubleshooting and report machine or tooling problems to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain accurate production, inspection, and tooling records.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area in accordance with company procedures.
Follow all company quality, safety, environmental, and production procedures.
Support continuous improvement activities relating to machining processes, tooling, cycle-time reduction, and scrap reduction.
Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2–5 years of relevant CNC machining experience, preferably with 5-axis machining.
Experience operating and setting up 5-axis CNC machining centers.
Experience machining materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, tool steel, titanium, or other engineering materials is an advantage.
Experience in precision machining, aerospace, automotive, medical, mold & die, or other high-precision manufacturing environments is an advantage.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Good understanding of CNC machining processes, cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining parameters.
Able to perform 5-axis machine setup, tool setting, work offset setting, and program verification.
Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mitsubishi, or equivalent.
Ability to understand and make basic edits to G-code/M-code.
Familiarity with CAM software such as Mastercam, HyperMill, PowerMill, Fusion 360, NX, or equivalent is an advantage.
Able to use precision measuring equipment accurately.
Good understanding of tolerances, surface finishes, tool wear, and dimensional control.
Ability to troubleshoot machining problems and make appropriate process adjustments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
