Job summary

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2–3 years of CAD drafting experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter to join our engineering team in Selangor. This is a pivotal role that will support our design and engineering operations by producing accurate technical drawings and documentation. As a CAD Drafter, you will work closely with engineers and designers to transform concepts into precise, detailed drawings that guide manufacturing, construction and implementation processes. This position is essential to ensuring that our projects meet specification requirements, industry standards and client expectations. The role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in technical drafting whilst contributing meaningfully to diverse engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Producing accurate, detailed technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software based on engineer specifications and sketches
• Creating comprehensive engineering documentation including assembly drawings, component drawings, schematic diagrams and construction plans
• Ensuring all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes and client requirements
• Reviewing drawings for accuracy, completeness and consistency before submission
• Making revisions to drawings based on engineer feedback and design modifications
• Maintaining organised digital filing systems and drawing databases for easy retrieval and version control
• Collaborating with engineers, architects and project managers to clarify specifications and resolve drawing-related queries
• Supporting the preparation of technical documentation packages and project submissions
• Keeping abreast of updates to CAD software, design standards and industry best practices

What we're looking for

• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent programmes
• Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, conventions and technical documentation requirements
• Attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, error-free drawings consistently
• Excellent spatial reasoning and visualisation skills
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, specifications and technical requirements
• Competency in reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Effective communication skills for liaising with engineers and other team members
• Diploma or degree in Engineering Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience working as a CAD drafter or in a similar technical drafting role
• Experience in specific engineering disciplines such as mechanical, civil, electrical or architectural design would be advantageous
• Familiarity with 3D modelling and rendering software is desirable
• Knowledge of industry-specific standards relevant to your field of expertise
