An engineering consultancy firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced M&E Drafter to join their team in Selangor. The chosen candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality Mechanical and Electrical drawings for building services projects. Ideal applicants should possess at least a Certificate or Diploma in Drafting or Engineering, have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, and be proficient in AutoCAD. The role requires independent work and collaboration with engineers as well as supervising junior drafters.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant drafting experience in M&E consulting engineering.
• Fundamental knowledge of building services design.
• Familiar with local building codes and authority submission requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare M&E layout drawings using AutoCAD and/or GstarCAD.
• Develop accurate CAD designs for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services.
• Interpret schematic and single-line diagrams into technical drawings.
• Plan system routing and conduct quality checks on models.
• Coordinate with engineers to resolve design issues.
• Supervise and mentor junior drafters.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented M&E Drafter to join our engineering consultancy team. This role involves the production of high-quality Mechanical and Electrical drawings for building services projects. The ideal candidate should be technically proficient, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and actively contribute to design coordination and project success.

• Prepare M&E layout drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or GstarCAD in accordance with project requirements and specifications
• Develop accurate and detailed CAD designs for mechanical and/or electrical services, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power, and lighting systems
• Interpret and translate schematic and single-line diagrams into coordinated technical drawings
• Independently plan system routing and conduct internal quality checks on drawings and models
• Coordinate closely with engineers and other design team members to resolve clashes and interface issues
• Maintain proper documentation and version control of all issued and received drawings/models
• Ensure adherence to internal CAD and drafting standards
• Supervise and mentor junior drafters, review their work, and ensure drawing accuracy and consistency
• Report regularly to the project engineer on task progress and deadlines

Requirements

• Malaysian citizen
• Possess at least a Certificate or Diploma in Drafting or Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant drafting experience in M&E consulting engineering, with fundamental knowledge of building services design
• Proficient in AutoCAD or GstarCAD (knowledge of MS Office is a plus)
• Solid understanding of M&E design principles and applicable CAD standards
• Familiar with local building codes and authority submission requirements
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Willing to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
