Comet Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Buyer for the Plasma Control Technologies division in Penang. You will manage end-to-end purchasing processes, collaborate with engineering and operations, and develop suppliers across Malaysia and Switzerland to meet quality and delivery targets.

The role emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, international coordination, and data-driven procurement with focus on cost, reliability, and compliance. Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Operational Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain in manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration.
• Strong ERP experience (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel for reporting.
• Skilled in negotiating with suppliers and resolving supply issues.
• Fluent English; German language helpful.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end purchasing from requisition to payment.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, inventory.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Production, Quality, and Operations for NPI and changes.
• Source and onboard suppliers with global Commodity Management; support Malaysia & Switzerland procurement.
• Drive procurement master data and ensure compliance.

To complement our team, we are looking for a customer- and teamoriented individual for our division Plasma Control Technologies at the Penang site as a Buyer.

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven procurement from requisition to payment.
• Monitor supplier performance, material availability, delivery schedules, and inventory replenishment to achieve high on-time delivery targets.
• Partner with Engineering, Planning, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to support new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and plant setup activities.
• Source, onboard, and develop suppliers in collaboration with global Commodity Management while supporting procurement operations across Malaysia and Switzerland.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain procurement master data, and ensure compliance with procurement policies and legal requirements.

What You Will Bring

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Operational Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing or technical environment.
• Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related discipline; technical or mechanical knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong ERP system experience (SAP preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, forecasting, and data analysis.
• Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers, resolve supply chain issues, and manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
• Fluent English communication skills and the flexibility to collaborate across international teams and time zones. Proficiency in German language will be an added advantage.
