Comet Group in Penang is seeking a Buyer to join the Plasma Control Technologies division. You will manage end-to-end purchasing activities, ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement from requisition to payment, and collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Production, Quality, and Operations teams.

With a minimum of 5 years in procurement or supply chain, you will negotiate with suppliers, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement while complying with policies and legal

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Operational Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing or technical environment.
• Strong ERP system experience (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills for reporting and data analysis.
• Fluent English with German language as an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement from requisition to payment.
• Monitor supplier performance, material availability, delivery schedules, and inventory replenishment.

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven procurement from requisition to payment.

Monitor supplier performance, material availability, delivery schedules, and inventory replenishment to achieve high on-time delivery targets.

Partner with Engineering, Planning, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to support new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and plant setup activities.

Source, onboard, and develop suppliers in collaboration with global Commodity Management while supporting procurement operations across Malaysia and Switzerland.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain procurement master data, and ensure compliance with procurement policies and legal requirements.

What You Will Bring

Minimum 5 years of experience in Operational Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing or technical environment.

Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related discipline; technical or mechanical knowledge is an advantage.

Strong ERP system experience (SAP preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, forecasting, and data analysis.

Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers, resolve supply chain issues, and manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships.

Fluent English communication skills and the flexibility to collaborate across international teams and time zones. Proficiency in German language will be an added advantage.
