Business Development Executive - Automotive Partnerships
The Business Development Executive is responsible for expanding ServAuto's automotive partner and franchise network by engaging, qualifying and converting prospective workshop owners and automotive business operators. The role combines company-generated lead management with field sales, relationship building and disciplined follow-up. This is a sales-focused, field-oriented position suited to mature, professional candidates who can move comfortably between two very different audiences in the same week: corporate decision-makers on one side, and hands-on, sometimes non-formally-educated workshop technicians and mechanics on the other.
Key responsibilities
- Study assigned territory in depth: map automotive workshop clusters, identify areas with low ServAuto partner coverage, and note competitor presence
- Turn mapping into a prioritised 'most-wanted-to-meet' target list of workshops and prospects worth pursuing — owned and updated by the BD Executive
- Contact inbound leads generated through Meta, Google, TikTok and other company marketing channels promptly
- Work outbound through any additional target/contact lists provided by the company — every name on a company-provided list is contacted, qualified and tracked to a clear outcome
- Maintain a strong field presence: approximately four to five workshop, service centre and tyre centre visits per day, subject to territory and appointments
- Use visitation to generate new leads on the ground — walk-ins, adjacent workshops, referrals from owners already visited
- Build relationships with workshop owners, operators and decision-makers; understand their operations, purchasing behaviour, business challenges and expansion plans
- Adapt communication style to the audience — a workshop technician on the floor and a business owner in a boardroom are handled with equal professionalism, but not the same script
- Qualify every prospect on business background, workshop profile, requirements, investment capability and level of interest
- Respond to new enquiries promptly and maintain consistent follow-up until a clear outcome is achieved
About you
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in business development, B2B sales, relationship-based sales, or another client-facing, target-driven sales role
- Experience in banking, insurance, or property/real estate backgrounds such as bank relationship managers, personal bankers, insurance agents, unit trust agents, and property/real estate negotiators
- Experience selling engine oil, lubricants, automotive spare parts, tyres, batteries, automotive accessories, workshop equipment or other automotive aftermarket products
- Existing relationships or familiarity with automotive workshops and workshop owners
- Demonstrated pipeline discipline — must be able to describe, from a past role, exactly how they tracked leads and ensured none were dropped
- Mature and professional demeanour, with the versatility to build trust at both ends of the stakeholder spectrum — equally credible in front of a corporate decision-maker and a workshop technician or mechanic with limited formal education
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Strong time management with the ability to prioritise leads, appointments, field visits and multiple follow-ups effectively
- Self-motivated, disciplined, accountable and comfortable working towards sales targets
- Comfortable with cold calling, face-to-face meetings and regular field visits
