MAP Active Malaysia is seeking a Business Data Analyst to transform raw business, sales, and operations data into clear, actionable insights. This role supports the Country Manager, Ops Head, and Merchandising Head with data crunching, reporting, and performance tracking.
You will design standardized reporting templates, work with HODs on the business plan, and streamline reporting processes across finance, merchandising, operations, and HR to ensure consistent data.
MAP Active Malaysia is looking for a Business Data Analyst to support the Country Manager, Ops Head, and Merchandising Head by turning raw business, sales, and operational data into clear, actionable insights. This role is central to performance tracking, business planning, and reporting efficiency across the organization, working closely with Heads of Department (HODs) to drive key business priorities.
Key responsibilities
Support the Country Manager, Ops Head, and Merchandising Head with data crunching, analysis, and reporting
Design and maintain standardized Business Review templates for regular leadership review
Work directly with HODs to develop and track the business plan
Manage key projects and business priorities end-to-end, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
Build and streamline Retail & Merchandising reports to reduce time spent by teams on manual report creation
Track KPIs such as sales performance, sell-through, OTB, and other retail or business metrics relevant to the Malaysia market
Collect, clean, and consolidate data from multiple sources (sales, inventory, HR, finance, or store performance systems)
Identify data discrepancies, gaps, or inefficiencies and recommend improvements to reporting processes
Support ad hoc analysis requests with quick turnaround
Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, merchandising, operations, and HR to ensure data consistency across reports
About you
Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
2-4 years of experience in a data analyst, business analyst, or project coordination role, ideally within retail or FMCG
Strong proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus
Experience building report templates and streamlining reporting processes
Basic project management skills, able to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and departments
Comfortable working with large datasets and translating them into simple, business-relevant narratives
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to work directly with senior stakeholders (Country Manager, Ops Head, Merchandising Head) and manage confidential business data
Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
