About the role
We are seeking a skilled, assertive Boutique Hotel Manager to join our team in George Town, Penang, full-time. In this critical role, you will lead the hotel's overall management and operations, ensuring every aspect runs smoothly. As the Hotel Manager, you will have a direct impact on guest satisfaction, staff performance, financial results, and our brand reputation. You will oversee all departments, drive operational excellence, and cultivate a dynamic workplace culture that attracts and retains top talent.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and administrative functions
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize occupancy rates, revenue, and profitability
- Manage budget planning, financial forecasting, and cost control across all departments
- Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate hotel staff to achieve service excellence and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and legal regulations, including guest safety and employee welfare standards
- Maintain the highest standards of guest service and satisfaction, addressing complaints and concerns promptly and professionally
- Monitor and maintain the physical condition of the property, coordinating maintenance and renovation projects as needed
- Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and partners to optimize service delivery and value
- Implement and maintain quality assurance standards consistent with brand guidelines and guest expectations
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, financial metrics, and key performance indicators to senior management
- Lead marketing initiatives and promotional activities to enhance the hotel's visibility and competitiveness in the market
- Manage crisis situations and ensure business continuity during challenging circumstances
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a hotel or similar hospitality environment
- Proven track record of successfully managing budget, revenue, and operational performance
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage diverse teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and stakeholders at all levels
- Comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations, including front office systems, housekeeping standards, food and beverage management, and maintenance requirements
- Sound understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and profit maximisation strategies
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in hotel management software and computer systems
- Fluency in English and Malay; additional languages are advantageous
- Relevant hospitality management qualifications or certifications are preferred
- Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards specific to the hospitality industry
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of professionalism
