Job summary

Pastaney Restaurant in Kuching, Sarawak is seeking an experienced Bartender to join our vibrant team. You will craft cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, take orders, handle POS transactions, and maintain the bar with high standards.

You’ll work closely with front-of-house and kitchen staff to deliver memorable guest experiences while adhering to health and licensing regulations, upselling where appropriate, and ensuring cleanliness and stock accuracy.

Qualifications

About the role

Pastaney Restaurant is seeking a talented and experienced Bartender to join our dynamic Restaurant team in Kuching, Sarawak. This is a full-time position based at our restaurant, where you will be the face of our bar operations and a key contributor to delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a Bartender, you will play a vital role in creating memorable moments for our guests whilst maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism and efficiency. This position is integral to our success as it directly impacts guest satisfaction, bar revenue and the overall atmosphere of our establishment.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and serving a wide variety non-alcoholic beverages with precision and flair, including cocktails

Taking customer orders accurately and efficiently whilst providing expert recommendations based on guest preferences and occasions

Maintaining impeccable standards including cleanliness, organisation and stock rotation of all beverages

Managing cash transactions and operating the point-of-sale system with accuracy and integrity

Monitoring and replenishing bar inventory, identifying stock levels and communicating orders to management

Building and maintaining positive relationships with regular customers to encourage repeat visits and loyalty

Adhering to all health, safety and food hygiene regulations

Collaborating with front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service delivery

Handling customer inquiries and complaints professionally, resolving issues to maintain guest satisfaction

Contributing to a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere through engaging conversation and exceptional customer service

What we're looking for

Proven experience working as a Bartender or in a similar bar operations role within the hospitality industry

Strong knowledge of cocktail recipes, mixology techniques and classic and contemporary drink preparation methods

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests, build rapport and handle difficult situations with professionalism

Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and basic cash handling procedures

Outstanding organisational and time management abilities, particularly during busy service periods

Physical fitness and stamina to stand for extended periods and handle the demands of a fast-paced bar environment

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation

Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues

Knowledge of beverage costing, upselling techniques and menu promotion

Responsible attitude towards alcohol service and compliance with local licensing laws

Preferred: Certification in responsible beverage service or mixology qualifications
