Job summary

KORNER BISTRO in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar team, oversee operations and ensure exceptional service.

You will manage inventory, prepare cocktails, ensure health and safety compliance, and drive revenue through events and promotions. This role requires strong leadership, POS proficiency, and a customer-focused approach to build lasting relationships.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Bar Manager or in a senior bar position within a hospitality setting.
• Strong knowledge of drinks, cocktails, spirits and wine, with the ability to make recommendations to customers.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Proficiency in POS systems and basic financial management.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, and responsible alcohol service practices.
• Problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Flexibility to work evening, weekend and public holiday shifts as required.
• Certification in responsible beverage service or bartending qualifications (preferred).

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to join our hospitality team in Bayan Lepas, Penang. In this pivotal position, you will oversee all aspects of bar operations, ensuring exceptional service standards and a profitable venue. You will lead a team of bar staff, manage inventory, and create an inviting atmosphere that keeps customers returning. This role is essential to delivering the high-quality hospitality experience that defines our establishment.

What you'll be doing

• Supervising and training bar staff to ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer service and adherence to company standards
• Managing bar inventory, stock levels and ordering of beverages, spirits, and bar supplies
• Preparing and serving cocktails, spirits, wines and other beverages with precision and creativity
• Maintaining strict compliance with health, safety and licensing regulations
• Monitoring till operations, cash handling and financial reconciliation on a daily basis
• Creating and promoting special events, themed nights and promotions to increase revenue and customer engagement
• Ensuring the bar area is kept clean, well-organised and visually appealing at all times
