Job summary

STMicroelectronics in Malaysia invites an Automation Technician to join our plant. You will install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize automation equipment and control systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing.

This role involves working with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and related software; performing preventive and corrective maintenance; calibrating sensors; and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues.

Qualifications

Diploma in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Knowledge of automation software and control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems; ability to read schematics/drawings.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve automation-related issues.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and optimize automation equipment and control systems.
Troubleshoot and repair automation equipment including mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
Program and configure PLCs, robotic systems, and other control platforms.
Update software/firmware to support new manufacturing requirements.
Test automated systems for proper operation and performance.
Calibrate sensors, actuators, and related components.
Maintain records of maintenance, downtime, and incidents.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues.
