Job summary

Actmax Limited in Malaysia is seeking an Automation Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automated production equipment and control systems for safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

The role focuses on diagnosing faults in electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, with hands-on experience in PLC and HMI environments. Shift work and on-call availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
• Typically 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, maintenance, or a related environment.
• Practical knowledge of PLC and HMI systems.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, sensors, motors, and control devices.
• Ability to read electrical and control-system drawings.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, or on-call when required.
• Preferred: PLC experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar.
• Preferred: HMI/SCADA systems.
• Preferred: Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and servo systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot automated machinery and production systems.
• Diagnose electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and control panels.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
• Monitor machine performance and identify recurring equipment failures.
• Support production teams in resolving machine breakdowns and minimize downtime.
• Modify PLC programs, HMI settings, and control parameters where authorized.
• Conduct machine testing, calibration, and functional checks.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
• Assist engineers with automation projects, machine upgrades, and process improvements.
