ONTOP SYSTEMS SDN. BHD. in Puchong, Selangor, is seeking an experienced Automation & Control Engineer for a full-time role. The engineer will design, develop, and implement automated control systems to optimise operations and drive innovations across projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering and 2–5 years of hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and IIoT in industrial settings, along with strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in automation and control engineering.
• Strong PLC programming skills (ladder logic, structured text, function block).
• Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and IIoT systems.
• Knowledge of electrical principles, industrial networks, and protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP).

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automation & Control Engineer to join ONTOP SYSTEMS SDN. BHD. in Puchong, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing automated control systems that optimise our operational efficiency and drive innovation across our engineering projects. As an Automation & Control Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our technical initiatives, translating complex requirements into reliable, scalable control solutions that enhance productivity and safety across our operations.

Key responsibilities

Design and develop automation and control systems using industry-standard software and hardware platforms

Conduct system analysis and feasibility studies to identify opportunities for process automation and improvement

Program and configure programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other control devices

Develop, configure, and support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions for industrial automation and process control applications

Create detailed technical documentation, including control system designs, schematics, and operational manuals

Perform commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of automation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and operational staff to deliver integrated solutions

Provide technical support and training to end-users on automation system operation and maintenance

Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices in automation and control engineering

Identify and implement continuous improvements to existing control systems for enhanced efficiency

What we’re looking for

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline

2-5 years of professional experience in automation and control engineering or a similar role. Candidates with less experience but strong technical aptitude will also be considered

Strong proficiency with PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagrams

Hands-on experience with industrial control systems and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems

Solid understanding of electrical principles, industrial networks, and communication protocols (such as Modbus, Profibus, or Ethernet/IP)

Proficiency in CAD software and control system design tools

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in team environments

Knowledge of industrial safety standards and compliance requirements

Experience with Omron, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent PLC platforms will be an added advantage

Preferred experience in process automation, manufacturing, or related industrial sectors

Exposure to PLC, HMI, SCADA, Industrial IoT (IIoT), industrial networking and automation system integration projects is preferred
