Pentamaster Corporation Berhad is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our Penang engineering team. This full-time role centers on designing, implementing and optimising advanced automation systems to boost productivity and efficiency.

You will report to senior management and drive automation initiatives across operations, mentoring junior staff and ensuring high standards of safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in automation engineering with at least 3 years in senior or managerial roles.
• Experience designing and deploying automated systems in manufacturing settings.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61131-3 standards and PLC programming.

About the Role

Pentamaster Corporation Berhad is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our engineering team in Penang. This is a full-time position that offers a strategic opportunity to lead automation initiatives and drive engineering excellence across our operations. As a key member of our technical leadership, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and optimising automated systems that enhance productivity and efficiency. This role reports to senior management and plays a pivotal part in advancing our technological capabilities and competitive position in the market.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement advanced automation systems and solutions tailored to operational requirements
• Lead the planning, specification and deployment of industrial automation projects from conception through to completion
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Oversee the integration of control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and related automation hardware
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for automation initiatives
• Manage and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex automation system issues to minimise downtime
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and quality requirements in all automation projects
• Prepare technical documentation, including system designs, schematics, programming specifications and operational manuals
• Stay current with emerging automation technologies and recommend innovations to enhance system performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering or Mechatronic or a related discipline
• Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience in automation engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial capacity

Required Skills

• Demonstrated expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems and industrial control systems
• Proficiency with automation software platforms and programming languages such as IEC 61131-3, ladder logic, structured text or similar
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuit design and power distribution relevant to automation applications
• Experience with CAD and simulation software for system design and validation
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex automation projects on time and within budget
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Leadership capability with experience in team management and staff development
• Familiarity with industry standards including ISO, IEC and relevant safety protocols
• Professional certifications in automation engineering or related fields are highly desirable
