Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in handling Marine Cargo and Hull claims.
• Strong knowledge of insurance principles, claims management processes, policy coverage, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, train, and develop staff to achieve department objectives.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with insureds, adjusters, lawyers, brokers, reinsurers, and other stakeholders.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle Marine Cargo and Hull claims within delegated authority.
• Review and recommend claims exceeding authority limits for management approval.
• Ensure accurate claim registration, reserve management, and claims administration per guidelines.
• Liaise with insureds, brokers, adjusters, lawyers, reinsurers, and other stakeholders to facilitate resolution.
• Manage subrogation and salvage recoveries to maximize recovery opportunities.
• Conduct claims reviews, monitor reserving adequacy, identify trends and concerns.
• Supervise and support team members to ensure compliance with policies and service standards.
• Prepare claims reports and perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Marine Claims handler to manage Marine Cargo and Hull claims, ensuring timely claim settlement, effective recovery management, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service.

The key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle Marine Cargo and Hull claims within delegated authority.

Review and recommend claims exceeding authority limits for management approval.

Ensure accurate claim registration, reserve management, and claims administration in accordance with Company guidelines.

Liaise with insureds, brokers, adjusters, lawyers, reinsurers, co-insurers, and other stakeholders to facilitate efficient claims resolution.

Manage subrogation and salvage recoveries to maximize recovery opportunities.

Conduct claims reviews, monitor reserving adequacy, and identify claims trends and areas of concern.

Supervise and support team members to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and service standards.

Prepare claims reports and perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Job specification:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with insureds, adjusters, lawyers, brokers, agents, reinsurers, and other stakeholders.

Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage.

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
