Job summary

Sunway Berhad in Malaysia is seeking a senior finance professional to lead financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow planning, and governance across multiple entities. You will partner with auditors, banks, and internal teams to ensure compliance and timely, accurate financial statements.

The role requires hands-on experience with monthly closing, tax filings, and cross‑functional collaboration, with a focus on risk management and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• 5–7 years of experience in finance or accounting, with exposure to property industry preferred.
• Hands‑on experience preparing monthly accounts and financial statements, including cash flow planning and tax filing.
• Comfortable working directly with banks, auditors, lawyers, and tax agents.
• Experience managing multiple entities and strong understanding of accounting standards and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own Financial Reporting & Oversight – review monthly accounts, fix errors, and ensure accuracy.
• Drive Budgeting & Performance Analysis – coordinate yearly budget and forecasts; explain variances.
• Manage Cash Flow & Treasury Planning – monitor cash position and liaise with banks on loans.
• Lead Compliance in Audit & Tax – prepare accounts for external audit and ensure tax filings are on time.
• Support Investment & Financing Decisions, Strengthen Controls – provide cash flow projections and improve internal controls.
• Lead Talent Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration – coach finance team and partner with other departments.
• Uphold Governance & Regulatory Compliance – ensure adherence to procedures and reporting for board updates.

• Own Financial Reporting & Oversight — Review the monthly accounts prepared by the shared services team, sort out any errors or mismatches, and make sure reporting is accurate and submitted on time, following proper accounting standards and company policy.
• Drive Budgeting & Performance Analysis — Coordinate the yearly budget and regular forecasts, track how the company is performing financially, and explain any differences between what was planned and what actually happened, to help guide management decisions.
• Manage Cash Flow & Treasury Planning — Keep track of the company's cash position, plan ahead for loan drawdowns or repayments, and manage ongoing loan conditions directly with the banks.
• Lead Compliance in Audit & Tax — Take charge of preparing the yearly financial accounts for external audit, and make sure all tax filings (including sales & service tax) are accurate and submitted on time, working directly with auditors and tax agents.
• Support Investment & Financing Decisions, Strengthen Controls — Prepare the cash flow and financial numbers needed to support loan or investment decisions, and review internal processes (like account reconciliations) to reduce errors and risk.
• Lead Talent Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration — Manage and coach the finance team — reviewing their entries and account work — while working closely with other departments and partner companies to keep things running smoothly.
• Uphold Governance & Regulatory Compliance — Make sure the company follows internal procedures, laws, and reporting rules, and help prepare/present financial updates for board meetings when needed.

Key Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• 5–7 years of experience in finance or accounting, with experience in property industry being an added advantage.
• Hands‑on experience preparing monthly accounts and financial statements, including cash flow planning and tax filing.
• Comfortable working directly with banks, auditors, lawyers, and tax agents.
• Experience managing multiple companies/entities at the same time.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, tax matters, and compliance requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Detail‑oriented, results‑driven, with strong communication skills and a genuine eagerness to keep learning.
