The Assistant Maintenance Engineer is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Department in ensuring the reliability, availability, and compliance of production equipment, facilities, and utility systems. The role focuses on maintenance planning, spare parts management, documentation control, calibration coordination, process improvement initiatives, and ensuring maintenance activities comply with GMP, safety, and company requirements.
Job Summary
The Assistant Maintenance Engineer is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Department in ensuring the reliability, availability, and compliance of production equipment, facilities, and utility systems. The role focuses on maintenance planning, spare parts management, documentation control, calibration coordination, process improvement initiatives, and ensuring maintenance activities comply with GMP, safety, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support maintenance shutdown planning and resource allocation.
- Monitor maintenance progress and prepare maintenance performance reports.
- Liaise with the Warehouse and Store Department for spare parts issuance, replenishment, stock verification, and inventory control.
- Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and recommend procurement of critical spare parts.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and support annual stock take activities.
- Assist in planning and scheduling preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
- Coordinate maintenance work orders and ensure timely execution.
- Maintain maintenance documentation in accordance with GMP requirements.
- Ensure equipment files, maintenance records, drawings, manuals, and certificates are updated and properly controlled.
- Support document revisions, change control activities, and audit preparation.
Calibration Programme
- Coordinate the plant calibration programme for production equipment, utilities, and measuring instruments.
- Monitor calibration schedules and ensure all instruments remain within valid calibration status.
- Liaise with external calibration service providers and internal departments and maintain calibration records and certificates.
Process Engineering Improvement
- Liaise with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and other departments to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support implementation of equipment modifications and continuous improvement projects.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.
- Assist in equipment qualification and commissioning activities where applicable.
SOP & Documentation Development
- Assist in developing, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure maintenance procedures comply with GMP, safety regulations, and company standards.
- Support implementation of new procedures and staff training.
Facilities & Utilities Maintenance
- Support maintenance activities for building facilities and utility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, purified water, electrical systems, plumbing, and other facility infrastructure.
- Assist in troubleshooting utility and facility issues to minimize operational downtime.
- Participate in internal and external audits and support audit readiness.
- Assist in risk assessments and implementation of corrective actions.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors for maintenance services, spare parts procurement, quotations, and project execution.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Possess a proactive attitude, strong sense of ownership, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
