Job summary

Lexu Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd in Kulai, Johor, Malaysia is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the company’s HR function for local and foreign staff.

You will develop, implement and review HR policies and the employee handbook, oversee recruitment and onboarding, manage payroll, attendance, allowances and statutory contributions, and ensure compliance with the Employment Act 1955 and the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of Malaysian employment and industrial relations laws.
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
  • Good disciplinary case management and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organisational, documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Able to communicate effectively with local and foreign employees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and review HR policies, procedures and employee handbook in accordance with local laws.
  • Plan workforce requirements and manage recruitment, selection, interviews, offers, onboarding and confirmation.
  • Manage the full employee life cycle, including transfers, promotions, salary adjustments, performance management, disciplinary matters, resignations and terminations.
  • Oversee payroll inputs, attendance, overtime, leave, allowances, deductions, statutory contributions and employee benefits.
  • Manage foreign-worker matters, including recruitment, permits, medical examinations, accommodation, bank accounts, repatriation and liaison with authorities.
  • Handle employee misconduct, grievances, investigations, due inquiries and domestic inquiries while ensuring fair procedures.
  • Advise management and department heads on employment matters, disciplinary action, workforce planning and employee-related risks.
  • Monitor employee performance and coordinate annual performance appraisals, salary reviews, promotions and development plans.
  • Identify training needs, prepare the annual training plan and coordinate internal and external training programmes, including HRD Corp claims where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate employee personal files and compliance with PDPA 2010 and other laws.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967 and other applicable legal requirements.
  • Liaise with government departments and recruitment agencies.

The HR Manager is responsible for managing the company’s overall human resource functions, ensuring sufficient manpower, legal compliance, effective employee management and smooth HR operations for both local and foreign employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee payroll inputs, attendance, overtime, leave, allowances, deductions, statutory contributions and employee benefits.
  • Manage foreign-worker matters, including recruitment, quota applications, work permits, medical examinations, accommodation, insurance, bank accounts, repatriation and liaison with agents and government authorities.
  • Handle employee misconduct, grievances, investigations, due inquiries and domestic inquiries while ensuring fair and proper procedures.
  • Advise management and department heads on employment matters, disciplinary action, workforce planning and employee-related risks.
  • Monitor employee performance and coordinate annual performance appraisals, salary reviews, promotions and employee development plans.
  • Identify training needs, prepare the annual training plan and coordinate internal and external training programmes, including HRD Corp claims where applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, HRD Corp and other applicable legal requirements.
  • Liaise with government departments and external parties, including JTK, JTKSM, JPP, Immigration, KWSP, PERKESO, HRD Corp, local authorities and recruitment agencies.
  • Support workplace safety, health and welfare initiatives in coordination with the Safety and Health Department and management.
  • Manage employee engagement, welfare activities, internal communication and initiatives to improve employee morale and retention.
  • Prepare HR reports, manpower statistics, payroll summaries, turnover analysis, absenteeism reports and other information required by management.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and ensure that HR records comply with company, customer and certification requirements.
  • Supervise and guide HR and administrative staff and ensure daily HR activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Perform any other HR or administrative duties assigned by management.
