Royal Selangor in Malaysia is seeking an Area Manager – North to lead and develop our network of stores across the North region. You will drive sales, oversee operations, and ensure consistent customer experience in line with company standards.

The Area Manager – North is responsible for overseeing and driving the performance of assigned retail stores within the North area. The role leads store teams to achieve sales and business objectives while ensuring consistent customer experience, operational excellence, and adherence to company standards. The Area Manager also builds strong relationships with mall management and external stakeholders, identifies business opportunities, and develops people to build a high-performing retail team.
Key responsibilities
Lead, coach, motivate, and develop retail teams across assigned stores to achieve sales targets and KPIs
Conduct regular store visits and actively participate on the sales floor by interacting with team members and customers and modelling excellent service standards
Drive sales performance across assigned stores and ensure achievement of sales targets, KPIs, and business objectives
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
Develop and maintain strong relationships with mall management, particularly Marketing and Operations teams
Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned stores and ensure consistent implementation of company policies, procedures, and retail standards
Ensure stores maintain high standards of visual merchandising, housekeeping, security, safety, and overall store presentation
Oversee inventory management across assigned stores to ensure adequate stock availability and minimise excess inventory
Prepare and provide regular reports on sales, manpower, inventory, customer experience, and store performance
Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity, profitability, and customer experience
Key requirements
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Retail Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in retail operations, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory, Store Manager, or Area Manager role
Proven experience managing multiple retail stores or geographically distributed retail teams
Strong leadership, people management, coaching, and team-building skills
Strong commercial and sales acumen with a results-oriented mindset
Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Willingness to travel frequently within the North area and visit assigned stores regularly
