Job summary

Focus Hotmelt Malaysia is seeking an Application Technical Engineer to provide technical support for hygiene-related applications. You will assist customers and Sales/Marketing, oversee trials, and tailor solutions to meet application requirements.

The role involves collaboration with Sales and R&D to develop new opportunities, coordination with Quality and Customer Service to address issues, and travel across Southeast Asia (10–15 days/month). Proficiency in English is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Polymer/Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in application engineering, technical service, process engineering or manufacturing technical support.
• Experience in hot melt adhesives, hygiene/nonwoven, converting, coating or related manufacturing applications is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience in customer trials and technical troubleshooting is preferred.
• Good command of English; Mandarin is an advantage for communication with China HQ.
• Willing to travel frequently within Southeast Asia, approximately 10–15 days per month.
• Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide application technical support to customers and Sales/Marketing teams.
• Support customer machine trials, product evaluations and troubleshooting at customer sites.
• Understand customer application requirements and recommend suitable technical solutions.
• Work with Sales and R&D to develop new applications and customer opportunities.
• Coordinate with Quality and Customer Service to resolve customer technical issues and complaints.
• Identify application risks and provide preventive recommendations.
• Gather market, competitor and application information and share feedback with the HQ Technical Team.
• Prepare technical/trial reports and other related documentation.
