Job summary

PETRO MART SDN. BHD. is seeking an aluminium fabrication assistant in Nilai to support TIG welders and fabricators with surface preparation, assembly and finishing tasks.

You'll be trained for aluminium alloy fabrication, handling sheets and profiles, and using basic workshop tools in a busy fabrication environment. Reliable teamwork, safety awareness and willingness to work overtime are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum education as stated: SPM or equivalent.
• Experience in aluminium fabrication or TIG welding is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of aluminium alloy fabrication is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist TIG welders in the fabrication of aluminium components.
• Prepare aluminium surfaces before welding, including cleaning, grinding, deburring and removal of contaminants.
• Assist with measuring, marking, cutting and preparing aluminium materials.
• Assist with fit-up, alignment and assembly before welding.
• Hold, position and secure components during welding operations.
• Prepare welding materials, fixtures, tools and consumables.
• Carry out basic grinding, drilling, cutting and finishing work.
• Assist with inspection and rectification of fabricated components.
• Maintain cleanliness of aluminium surfaces, tools and work areas.
• Handle aluminium sheets, profiles and fabricated components safely.
• Assist the TIG welder with changing consumables and preparing the work area.
• Follow welding, fabrication, PPE and HSE requirements.
• Perform other fabrication-related duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Job description

Assist the aluminium fabrication and welding team in the preparation, assembly and fabrication of aluminium components. The role will support TIG welders and fabricators in carrying out surface preparation, material preparation, fit-up, assembly and general workshop activities.

Candidates with basic TIG welding experience are encouraged to apply and may be given opportunities to develop their welding skills.

Key Responsibilities

Assist TIG welders in the fabrication of aluminium alloy components.

Prepare aluminium surfaces before welding, including cleaning, grinding, deburring and removal of contaminants.

Assist with measuring, marking, cutting and preparing aluminium materials.

About You

Basic knowledge of aluminium alloy fabrication is an advantage.

Basic TIG welding experience is an advantage, but training can be provided for suitable candidates.

Able to use basic workshop tools such as grinder, drill and cutting tools.

Physically fit and comfortable working in a fabrication/workshop environment.

Willing to work overtime when required.

Disciplined, responsible and able to work as part of a team.
